I Will Make You "Fishers of Men"

from Living Biblically · host Church & Family Life

What does it mean to be "fishers of men" and how does it apply to all followers of Christ? In this video, Paul Washer explains that while there are those who are specifically gifted in evangelism, all followers of Christ are called to evangelize to some extent. The modern culture of indifference towards witnessing can make this task difficult, but the call remains. In order to effectively witness in such a culture, believers must live in a way that stands out, prompting others to question why they are different. This difference in living, when noticed by others, provides an opportunity to share the hope that lies within them. This is the essence of being "fishers of men." It's not about aggressively pushing beliefs onto others, but living in such a way that others are drawn to ask about it. By following Christ, believers become fishers of men in their own unique ways. 1 Peter 3:15 (NKJV): 'But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.'
