I wish I saw him. Do you see me?

We're getting into the dad stuff with episode 3...the complicated relationship we had, and the things I wish I had understood while he was still here. I was so focused on the ways he made me feel restricted that I didn’t always stop to see him as a whole person. And it got me thinking about how often we do this with the people in our lives. We know them as our parent, partner, friend, sibling, coworker… but we forget that they’re also just a human being carrying an entire life we may know nothing about. Maybe if we took the time to understand each other a little more, we’d be a little kinder to each other, too.
