She made the switch to public service after teaching in schools in Mexico & Houston for 11 years. She left Mexico to avoid the drastic violence there and a personal tragedy. She discusses awareness of gun violence and safety. 5:00 pm June is LGBTQ Pride Month and the community has come a long way since the days when it was persecuted as exemplified by the barbaric Matthew Shepard killing in 1998 and the brutal Stonewall Inn police raid in 1969. We asked dancer and choreographer Mahesh Mabubhani who has never hidden his sexuality to talk about the gay community among South Asian here and in India. 5:20 pm When we first started the show in 2020, Nick Madhani was a frequent guest who we used as a barometer of how the Corona virus was spreading, based on how his dry cleaning business was doing. In May 2021 he was hopeful that things had hit bottom. We were curious how it was doing now and how his business managed to pull through.
