One woman captured the incident on her cell phone and the video went viral. The assailant was charged with a hate crime and sentenced to 6 months and a $10,000 fine. Harris County Asst Dist Atty Ruben Perez joins us to explain what constitutes a hate crime and how to handle it if it happens to you. 4:50 pm The Texas power grid has been under high demand and stressed this entire summer. Despite two freezes and extreme heat, the generators do not appear to be in better shape and oversight by the Texas Utility Commission is lax as industry insiders write the rules. Houston Chronicle’s Chris Tomlinson has been keeping a watchful eye on this situation and is a frequent critic. He joins us today to explain the cozy relationships at the TUC and ERCOT. 5:20pm In the 1882, the first black Commissioner Thomas Taylor in Ft Bend County was run out of office under threat of violence. When the current County Judge KP George was elected in 2018, he not only ousted the previous judge who had been in office 16 years but became the only person of color to take the top seat in 70 years. Now George is facing hate mails and calls as the election gets closer. He joins us to explain what is happening.
