Identifying False Teachers

How can we know whether or not someone is trustworthy? The first and foremost test is about who Jesus is. Do they believe he is the Son of God? It is not intelligence, morality or perceived spirituality. Those things matter but it starts with who is Jesus.  What are some examples of teachers that seem good or smart, but turned out to not be?
