What does it mean to be human? In a culture that encourages people to define themselves by their feelings, Scripture points to a very different foundation. Genesis 1-3 reveals that our identity is rooted in being created in the image of God. Careful study of these chapters answers life's deepest questions about purpose, value, morality, and meaning while exposing the false promises of expressive individualism. Genesis also provides a biblical framework for understanding personhood, gender, human dignity, and the effects of sin on our identity. Rather than looking inward for truth, God's Word directs us to the Creator, who alone defines who we are and why we exist.
