IEC state of readiness for 2026 Local Government Elections

    Earlier today, the Electoral Commission briefed the media on preparations for the 2026 local government elections. During the briefing, the commission announced that the next municipal elections are expected to take place between early November next year and late January 2027. So far, over 300, 000 South Africans have registered as first-time voters.
