In tonight’s journey, we step into one of the oldest and hardest questions in theology: If God is all-loving, why does He allow evil? From the fireside at the Pilgrims Grey Inn, we explore how God’s sovereignty, human freedom, and middle knowledge (Molinism) reveal that love itself is the key to understanding evil’s place in the story. Drawing on insights from Tim Stratton and William Lane Craig, we’ll discover how only in a world with real freedom can real love exist — and how God, in His perfect wisdom, foresaw every possible choice and still chose the world that leads to the greatest good. You’ll hear why: True love requires real freedom — including the freedom to reject it. Molinism shows that God’s plan includes every choice without violating our will. Evil’s existence doesn’t contradict God’s love; it makes love meaningful. And why heaven itself could only exist after this world of decision and redemption. By the end, you’ll see that a world full of pain may, in truth, be written by perfect hands — a masterpiece of love, freedom, and ultimate restoration. 💡 Like what you hear? C.S. Lewis's The Last Battle St. Philip's Church: Charleston, SC Come join us on Wednesday nights as we explore the riches of C.S. Lewis’s marvelous book The Last Battle, which is the last of The Chronicles of Narnia. It is a remarkable book on multiple levels and was awarded the Carnegie Medal back in the 1950s when it was first published. The Last Battle has some themes in common with The Great Divorce and That Hideous Strength that will make it an excellent follow-up to those two books, and like them, it has some remarkable resonance with things going on in today’s culture. It is a book that is both theologically rich and poignantly beautiful in its writing, and it can help equip us to live boldly for Christ in a culture that has lost its way. (Although this book is the last of The Chronicles of Narnia, it can stand on its own and it is not necessary to have read the other books for this class.)
