‘If Grandma Were Here’ Author, Amber Bradbury

On this episode of The Power of Love Show we welcome special guest & author of ‘If Grandma Were Here’, Amber Bradbury. Amber was inspired to write “If Grandma Were Here” by two very separate emotions... joy and sorrow. Joy in experiencing the loving relationships she had with her mother, paternal and maternal great-grandmothers and grandmothers growing up in a very tight-knit family. And sorrow, due to two tragic losses. That of her own mother—from a random act of violence—and of her paternal grandmother in a car accident—that deprived her kids of all the experiences Amber wished they all could have had together if both were still alive today. On where she got the inspiration for her book, Amber says: “Originally, I came up with this idea as a story for my toddler, who never got the chance to meet my mother and grandmothers and as a way for my older children to hold onto the memories they’d made with my mom and my late grandmother before those memories start to fade. So, since I couldn’t find any books for children and families dealing with grief that included diverse characters to which everyone can relate, I decided to write one myself.” Amber now juggles life in upstate New York as a writer, wife, mom and care-giver to her father-in-law in a lively, multi-generational household that leaves little time for her other passion—photography. But it does provide much inspiration for her newest book, “If Grandpa Were Here,” coming soon. Amber hopes everyone who has ever loved and lost a doting grandparent will want to include both books in their personal libraries as a source of comfort, inspiration, and joy.
