If Joy or holiness were the only choices, what would you take?

On today's episode with Steve Gleason; I remember thinking holiness and joy were two different ends of the spectrum. You know what helped me with that? Reading and re-reading and re-reading what St. Paul said to the church at Philippi "Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice"…that sounds excessively light hearted, but we know for certain that St Paul lived a life of virtue and holiness ... .and he did so while in prison.
