If We Don’t Know When He Is Returning Reasonably Speaking Why Watch

from Deep Waters · host Kenneth Shelton

Send us Fan MailSo, I was reading a book titled, “Summoning The Demon – AI, Aliens, & The Antichrist written by Alan Didio and came across this obscure section which talked about how we are to watch for the return of Jesus. I thought perhaps having already done messages on this subject, specifically addressing the scripture, that I should touch on it again:Matthew 24:36 - 36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.I didn’t buy the book for this reason as I already agree with the position of watching. And but I also believe that this statement is a Jewish idiom which is defined as:A Jewish idiom is a figurative phrase rooted in Jewish culture, religion, or language. They often originate from ancient Biblical Hebrew, the Aramaic of the Talmud, or Yiddish. These expressions rely on cultural context and rarely make sense if translated literally into English.I thought to look up just how many idioms there are in the bible so that we understand that it is very common to use them:There is no official or single number for how many Jewish and Hebraic idioms are in the Bible. Biblical scholars estimate there are thousands of idioms and Hebraisms woven throughout both the Old and New Testaments. Because idioms rely on cultural and linguistic nuances, literal translations often miss their true meanings. Understanding these idioms requires looking at the Hebraic background of the texts. Some of the most common and widely recognized biblical idioms and phrases include:"By the skin of one's teeth" (Job 19:20): Means surviving or escaping a disaster with nothing to spare."Apple of one's eye" (Psalm 17:8): Refers to something incredibly cherished or protected."Gird up your loins" (2 Kings 4:29): Means preparing for action or getting ready for a difficult journey."A drop in the bucket" (Isaiah 40:15): Represents a very small, insignificant amount.https://appliedstrengthsministry.org/
