If You Build It, Will They Really Come? ONE Variable Really Stands Out!

Episode #98 - I’m sure you remember the Kevin Costner film “Field of Dreams” and the famous line “If you build it, they will come”. But, in the world of running restaurants, the reality is “If you build it, your work is just beginning”. I work with many new restaurant owners and sometimes I am surprised by their approach and understanding of what it means to be a business owner or further, what it means to be an entrepreneur. There is huge difference in those two definitions. Either way, you take a risk to create a new enterprise and everything is on the line until you reach profitability. You can’t just sit back and expect the customers and dollars to roll in. One of my mantras is “Be a Student of your Restaurant”. Whether you’re a new or seasoned operator, there is never an end to the learning curve and at the very least there are 3 “Key-Fundamentals” every restaurateur or should I say entrepreneur should understand and master.
