After a short break from the pod we are finally back. For this episode we were joined by the lovely Ruth Peterson. A Liverpool born, Kingston university graduate with her own namesake brand. Like us, many of you would have first seen Ruth via BBC3's 'The Drop' where she was one of the contestants this year. However, Ruth's journey did not begin there and she had already built up a thriving brand prior to this, with her pieces being worn by the likes of Septa, Ty Dolla $ign and Dua Lipa! Due to difficulties that Ruth shares on this episode, she took a break from fashion but is back now and ready to take the fashion world by storm. Throughout the episode Ruth candidly shares how difficult it was to transition from student to fully fledged brand owner due to the fact that her graduate collection took off in a way that she hadn't expected! We went on to discuss how to know when it's time to start your own brand what goes into the process. Ruth is an avid horror film enthusiast and you can see this influence throughout her designs. We delved into why this is and how she hopes to channel her brand message through this lens!Since recording, Ruth has continued on her journey back into the fashion world! She recently debuted her latest collection at her own show in Lithuania! Ruth is also about to launch her own podcast series - 'Truth with Ruth', to help other up and coming designers know the things she wishes she knew about the industry when she started!
