IHSV IN HOC SIGNO VINCES / IN THIS SIGN YOU CONQUER, sketch of a destructive metaphysics Text of this piece is from a recent essay, the secular Christian, also on soundcloud. The Secular Christian http://bit.ly/2nNIFNs The beginning of the piece is inspired by the magnificent opening scene of the Bhagavad-Gita, in which the narrator describes the sound of all the warriors on the spiritual battlefield, in their separate chariots, calling out to each other, separated by vast space, calling out to the gods of the directions earth with their trumpets. I see this not is a glorification of war, but rather that thethe insight that the price of freedom – – spiritual freedom – – is no longer conflict, but the revolution of awareness ends conflict before it happened . That is what the music is, is about, reflects upon… The metaphysics of a self-destructive kind – – the secular Christian I call it – – that is in the way. The photo is the one described in the music, a bit unfortunately cropped by the tyranny of the soundcloud Square, but of St. George slaying the earth dragon. It’s on the façade of the great Munster Cathedral, Basil, Switzerland.
