Il G7 Contro il Dragone (e l'Orso)

In linea con la gran fanfara suonata alla vigilia del vertice G7 e le indiscrezioni filtrate durante gli incontri alla fine i leader delle democrazie di stampo occidentale hanno mandato un messaggio poco conciliante contro la Cina e la Russia. Il testo del comunicato finale e' un crescendo di frasi urticanti come non se ne vedevano dai tempi della Guerra Fredda. - As we are witnessing an increasing divergence of models, this transformation raises important questions about the interaction between economic opportunity, security, ethics, and human rights, and the balance between the role of the state, businesses and individuals.- We also affirm our opposition to measures which may undermine these democratic values, such as government-imposed internet shutdowns and network restrictions. - ... we commit to: increase cooperation on supporting democracy, including through strengthening the G7 Rapid Response Mechanism to counter foreign threats to democracy including disinformation; strengthen media freedom and ensure the protection of journalists; support freedom of religion or belief; condemn racism in all its forms; address human rights abuses ...- With regard to China, and competition in the global economy, we will continue to consult on collective approaches to challenging non-market policies and practices which undermine the fair and transparent operation of the global economy. - We will promote our values, including by calling on China to respect human rights and fundamental freedoms, especially in relation to Xinjiang and those rights, freedoms and high degree of autonomy for Hong Kong enshrined in the Sino-British Joint Declaration and the Basic Law.- We reaffirm our call on Russia to stop its destabilising behaviour and malign activities, including its interference in other countries’ democratic systems, and to fulfil its international human rights obligations and commitments. In particular, we call on Russia to urgently investigate and credibly explain the use of a chemical weapon on its soil, to end its systematic crackdown on independent civil society and media, and to identify, disrupt, and hold to account those within its borders who conduct ransomware attacks, abuse virtual currency to launder ransoms, and other cybercrimes.Bisogna vedere se alle parole seguiranno i fatti e in concreto quali risultati ci si ripromette di ottenere.
