Il trattato di Maastricht e la sua evoluzione

Il trattato di Maastricht, ufficialmente "trattato sull'Unione europea", prende il nome dalla città dei Paesi Bassi in cui viene firmato il 7 febbraio 1992 dagli allora 12 Stati membri delle Comunità europee. Dopo essere stato ratificato da tutti, entra in vigore il 1° novembre 1993.Otre a introdurre la cittadinanza europea, il trattato trasforma di fatto la Comunità economica europea in un'unione più coesa e completa, segnando la nascita dell'Unione europea.
