I'll Never Be the Man I'm "Supposed to Be"

from The Renegade Writer's Mouthy Musings · host The Mouthy Renegade Writer

What’s up, Y’all?Today’s question: How many of you have ever fallen short of other people’s expectations? Whether it was your parents’ demands, the teaching of your church, or from people on the opposite side of the political spectrum, it’s easy to feel completely different than the way they expect you to feel.Fuck all of that. I’m 50 and comfortable with who I am at this stage of my life. I cater to nobody if I don’t agree with their idea of what I SHOULD be.In today’s podcast episode, I discuss the idea of standing up for what’s right, regardless of what some douchebag has to say about it. I know that I’m a good person who fights for the rights of everyone. Except for racist, bigoted assholes. What they think doesn’t matter.I appreciate you lending me your ears on this one. I’d love to hear from you in the comments if you have a story relating to not bowing down to relatives, friends, or coworkers regarding things that they feel you should be doing differently. To hell with what they think if it isn’t supportive. We only have one life, and we should make the best of it. Do what you want and don’t feel guilt about not meeting other people’s expectations. If you enjoy my daily podcast, I’d love to have your support.
