I’ll Show You… Memories of Murder (2003)
from I'll Show You Mine · host Elyse Wietstock
This week on I'll Show You Mine... Elyse shows James the South Korean crime drama, Memories of Murder. Directed by Bong Joon-ho in 2003, the movie follows the true story of Korea's first recorded serial killer in 1986. The film stars Song Kang-ho as Inspector Park Doo-man and Kim Sang-kyung as Inspector Seo Tae-yoon, two detectives with completely opposing views on how best to catch the killer. We'll talk about how this movie differs from its Hollywood counterparts by doing the unexpected, and dig into the rich visual narrative director Bong lays out for the viewer.P.S. Just a warning, we don't get very graphic in our discussion of the film but this is a story about a series of rapes and murders which may be upsetting. Our theme song is:Dreams by Joakim Karud @joakimkarudCreative Commons — Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported— CC BY-SA 3.0 creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/
