ILYSM @ SXSW #3: Getting homey at the 'Roseanne' activation

from I Love You So Much: The Austin360 Podcast · host Austin American-Statesman

If you’ve never had a loose meat sandwich, now is your chance. Of course, most people who go to the Roseanne pop-up at Volcom Garden, 1209 E. Sixth St., aren’t there for the sandwiches. They are there for the nostalgia trip back to the late 1980s and 1990s, the era when the Conner family was one of the most beloved TV families in America, giving us an insight into the ups and downs of a typical blue-collar family in the upper Midwest. ABC is rebooting the show on March 27, two decades after the original show ended, and this installation will take you right back to that time. At the replica of Langford Lunch Box, where Roseanne worked, you can try loose meat sandwiches, pie, coffee and root beer, served up in collectible koozies on Sunday. Stepping into the Conners’ living room is a trip. In addition to that classic living room, you’ll find the Conners’ kitchen, which is where they are screenprinting T-shirts and canvas bags, and a replica of Dan’s garage to kick back in a recliner and enjoy clips from the series. The installation will be open through Monday at 6 p.m. It opens at 11 a.m. each day. More ILYSM at austin360.com/loveaustin360 Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
