I’m All About God

from The Truth Church

Reverend Ferrell preaches from Acts 5:11, focusing on the fear of God that came upon the early church. He contrasts this godly fear with the worldly 'no fear' attitude prevalent in modern society, which is self-centered and lacks reverence for God. He distinguishes between a spirit of fear (timidity, cowardice) and godly fear (awe, reverence, obedience). Drawing from Hebrews 12, Proverbs 1, and Psalms 89, he argues that godly fear is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge, and the proper disposition for worship. Examples from Scripture include Noah, who moved with fear to build the ark; Abraham, who showed his fear of God by his willingness to sacrifice Isaac; and Moses, who feared and quaked at Sinai. The preacher contends that the early church in Acts 5 experienced great fear of God, which resulted in signs, wonders, and healings—even Peter's shadow healing the sick. Similarly, in Acts 19, fear fell on Ephesus when the name of Jesus was magnified, leading to revival and the burning of occult books. Reverend Ferrell challenges the congregation to examine their own lives: Is their faith marked by genuine reverence? He calls believers to be clothed with godly fear, to honor God in daily choices, and to approach worship with awe. The spiritual purpose is to restore the fear of the Lord as the foundation for personal holiness, church power, and revival in a generation that has largely lost it.
