I have um did you see that Jamie Lynn Spears is on Dancing with the Stars? Jamie the beers is on Dancing with the Stars and I have a lot of questions if she can dance.
I'm doubting it Sean Spicer I mean I think she was like fine like she could do the steps and she got it together But I'm just sort of I'm just wondering who decided that that was the choice to make because we all know that she was Involved in shady things against Brittany. Oh absolutely which we don't stand. So I have a bit of lore from my own life, which I think we'll get from guests in the future is in terms of You know how they interpret the word lore and like what it means in their own life like a crazy story So live in a if you didn't know I'm gay Really For all those just listening. It's my Nine-year-old coming out story the tail And then I throw say I don't know fire it turns blue for somebody We love our kid Because it's kind of in And then everyone is telling a story but nobody's actually telling a story so Okay, so picture it suburban Sacramento. I'm about nine So fourth I think I was in fourth grade So what I'm about to like begin the story with is really de Kenzie and sounding so as sick as a kid in the winters Yeah, I was sick every fall in winter like o'clock the whole winter. Yeah from like late October till you were sick the whole time Yeah, so this is what's really weird Medicine and like get better. Well, this was the thing.
This is leading up to my coming up story. Okay, and I'm not you're like internalizing things Probably I was like freaking out. I'm like I'm a celebrity. I don't belong here It's a new I'm a celebrity get me out of here and like chocolates on a line and like spaceship coming at me So suburban Sacramento.
I'm nine eight or nine. Maybe yeah around that time And I was just really sick in winter so I started coughing and I wouldn't stop coughing so like literally all day like a bark All day so I feel that you know when you're coughing that scratching your throat So I would have that and then I would like tire myself out and just collapse but I wasn't coughing my sleep which was like baffling to people Yeah, so, you know, I what did you wake yourself up if you do that? And I did I was just I'd cough for like months. So what happened?
I would miss like 60 plus days of school Wow, and you know annoying but kind of heaven because I would watch like the HS movies from Blockbuster and like eat snacks by myself all day And I was like came to the castle. Morrie Just coughing and like watching like movies. I probably shouldn't be watching and like running around the house like muckoo Yeah, it was kind of great. I didn't have to socialize or do like place forts or anything anything these people wanted me to do so Around that time as you can imagine I'm getting a lot of like weird medical treatment.
Okay, so I'm going to first Every doctor in the area and they're like this is what I think's happening It's like asthmatic it's allergy. There's like an allergy like you're allergic to something in the environment Um and nobody could figure it out. So I was taking all these sorts of drugs as getting all these sorts of treatments again Heaven but annoying because it's like I'm going to like doctors and services get doctors and then let it and like nobody could figure it out So eventually I'd have to go back to school um and they put me in like a portable like trailer school For like storage and everything because I would disrupt the class by coughing and I was like okay, this works for me Yeah, well because I'm cough so much at you like you can't like imagine right now we were trying to have a conversation So it's just coughing the entire time and then also I went to a book store with my dad When it's a lot of older man came up to me and was like see a doctor and then my dad was like what do you do? But also when I took a kid we like get a doctor kid Yes, but he's got a like kind of like kind of like Yeah, but I remember I remember saying like that detailing the same thing he was like oh she's a doctor kid And I was like what is this news scenes?
Like again, it felt my whole childhood in this air felt very Dickensian where it's like adults are like I'm just begging for something that feels very like West Side Story and Gs And then like older people are like say a doctor tuts So I was seeing all these doctors and obviously they were giving a lot of drugs Some obviously wouldn't work. So I went to see this doctor I think this is in like Sausa Lita or like that area which was outside of S. That's very charming. Isn't that like a cookie?
It's also a cookie. It's not only a lifestyle of town, but it's a cookie. Because I would say I would see it in the grocery store and I'm like fuck is this Sausa Lita? It's also the gayest sound of cookie.
We're like yeah, um, you're like I don't care for chocolate chip I'll take a Sausa Lita. No, no, no, I wanted that. I wanted that. I knew you would.
I remember like asking for that So okay, so I went to see this doctor who gave me this kind of knee drag which was a steroid So it's prednisone adjacent, but I like I'll have to ask my parents. I should have texted them before I came in I've taken that before. I have a lot of time. I had to start a short So like it was like a newer kind of maybe you could put that I don't know what it was But it was prednisone adjacent.
So they sent it to the pharmacy and I'm just gonna say this right now They accidentally sent the prescription for a 90 year old like with cancer throat cancer How? I don't know and I wish we could I wish I could call my mom right um ask her But she's like getting it that would be like it's on podcast because she would talk three hours about this whole thing We can get off the phone. Yeah But this there was something that happened in the system where they gave me like a dot like a Prescription for of this read for like a 90 year old just dying. Okay, so I'm like eight or nine No, I'm there.
So I go home and let's say okay, they're like, okay, you need to take this Okay, so I go up to my room upstairs, but I'm not even gonna treat whatever you have it's like for something I think it was just trying to like figure something out and it gave me so I don't I again I wasn't an age to be cognizant of like what was going on, but I knew what was going on You know where I was like, yeah, yeah, so okay So I need to explain a layout of my house because this is relevant Um you walk in the front door and there's a stairwell that goes to the second level in the foot it I my room is on my sister in my room We're at the second the second floor and there's a banister overlooking the living room Yeah, so you'd have to walk from my room across the banister like looking down at the living room And then if you could leave at the front door. Yeah, so like this is important So I would let night I would sometimes like peek out my parents like I could see them like watching a tv show on the couch And I'd be like, yeah, I'm watching them and I'm like, faggot So I took this drug. I was going to bed Fans are watching tv and I remember I had a bunk bed So I was looking up at the bottom of the bunk bed And I remember like starting to feel very warm And then I remember starting to feel like you know a fever dream when you feel like It's like your mind is racing, but you can't keep track of what's happening Yeah, it feels like psychedelically overloaded. Yeah, I started feeling like that and then I started just sobbing Like I'm controlling sobbing in the dark looking at a bed because you know love my parents That they're very conservative and they would always just make casual references But if you ever brought a guy home like you'd find somewhere else to live and of course I was like oh that like you've been gagging Yeah, and as a kid I was like, yeah, like I think everybody because everybody knew I was getting a new Like my aunt's always like I told you about like that you were gay but it's like thanks hun But I was like, yeah, duh I was also like this is why I was like harassed by whole fucking life, but anyway, um, I was like you can't have you can't keep a good thing down You know what I mean?
So I um was like Internalizing this and it's something I thought about all the time We were like I'm going to have to come out and just have to find like I'm just gonna have to cut this life off and like start something new Like I was already internalizing that and then this eight. Yeah, so then this drug I was overdosing essentially and I was literally like my body. I probably was like having a fever I was literally like tossing and turning and sobbing and so I came to the conclusion that I'm in the dark I was like, let's just serve certainly time to start a new life And he is overdosing just like insane Yeah, so I literally like got up. I was pacing around the room like all the waiting to exhale I got a bag.
I started putting like books in a bag and then like a blanket and then like um, I brought a walkman I think I brought TLC is crazy sexy cool Oh my bread Well, I was like I just need this you know emotional support And I brought a flashlight and I remember packing like extra batteries I had in the closet And I got a piece of notebook paper from my trapper keeper, whatever and I wrote my parents a coming out of letter Said I know you're not going to accept me for this, but and this is why I have to go Well, you're right when you're right and I like folded it up like elementary school style You know like you're passing it. No like an origami like What do you pull the things where you're like your future? But I was like you would eat like overdosing accidentally in a place of wing to exhale and crazy sexy cool And like packing a bag to start a new life. So I really painted a picture Oh, yeah So I was in the deck I like had my bag I had my note folded up And then I put my baby blanket which was yellow and I was obsessed with it and I I had my head like a boosh car like a cape and I was ready to hit the night I was like this is my new life and I was like and this is just how it's gonna be and then what so I went to the banister I actually like like slid the note folded up and it fell like ever so gracefully like by the couch And they didn't see me somehow and I was like okay They're gonna find this note and I have A hot minute to get out here because like they'll probably go to bed in the guy's nowhere So I'm like whoa like my brain just felt like I was having like talk about winging next I was like It felt like I was on fire so I ran upstairs open the door With a bag and like a blanket tight over me.
So the question is where did you go? Where did I go? Okay So this is also probably like one on one of being a gay kid Uh, we lived in the suburban neighborhood and there was a gate like okay So there was a gate to like a forest so we were bordering up on like wilderness Not in the Canadian way, but like enough. Well, I guess where it's like I spend my life there and we called it the field This was in Sacramento before I went to know like it was like a jungle Like an ice-man all over my time there like as a kid I was like I felt like I was Laura during Jurassic Park That was like my vision so I like had I knew it like the back of my fucking hand there were beavers there were lizards there were Vlog cats not there were peacocks Were the first thing there were there's a huge lake and there was like beavers and like turtle it was crazy That's why they're friends because we're both around being we were around beavers We were around beavers but not not of that we would later come to not the interview We were both not really into no, but we love beavers No, it's a tail.
Well, I'll say like them coming at it like That's like that being OCD and being like oh my god We just need a belt and you're like hun it's done the house is done and they're like no the house is never done Okay, I kind of relate to that. Oh my god. This feels yeah. This is also our energy.
It's very our energy You know, so I used to live in the field like I would never go home. I hated going home You know we can look into that with what we want and I would just hang out and feel so I when I left when I went into the night Bush to play a bag and like TLCA I was like I know exactly where I'm gonna go I'm gonna go in the field and I had this the area So it was like, you know where there's like a tree clearing and the branches kind of create a dome Yeah, and it feels very naturally which you know, which is actually responsible, but it just appears this way anything That's like weeping I had and I was like I'm gonna go there So I turned my flashlight on and like went into a field To like with into that clearing I like set up shop and I remember thinking like this is your life now This is like you have to make this cozy like maybe hang something up Like maybe like put a blanket down And I was like in my mind. I think I was like, okay, well, what's next? I'll find others like like it's like the X men or like there's other kids living in the field Who are also coming out on like external You would be drawn to that because like you and I both come from a lineage of witches We can get into it another time.
Oh, absolutely. We were just I I was like well, and it's funny enough I was like about liberation. It's like I was like, okay. Well now all that's left is like figuring You know my life out.
Yeah, but I was like well, I have a cute little place I'll meet others like me like it's again like it's new z or the X men or something like there's other There's like another kid is like, okay. So it's okay. I'm out on a steroid Let's let's let's let's let me be Okay, he's like yeah, come on down come to my place. I'm at the we've been one of the three So I remember sitting in the dark and I was like, okay Like I felt a little more relaxed than I did in the room, which you know, I could get a deal later So I was like, okay now.
It's just a matter of like how when they're gonna find it So I was remembering like oh my god. Oh my god. I was like I remember so anxiously being like they're probably looking at it They're probably re-ing it. They're probably reacting or maybe not reacting Like I don't know So I was just kind of stewing in the middle of the field So a couple of hours go by and then I hear them calling for me and I remember like seeing another flashlight and my sister comes to get me She's like looking in the field and I was like, okay I may be like not overdosing anymore.
Like it's not hitting me in the same way So eventually I go back and then the weirdest part They like okay, my life is like a gay runaway eight-year-old is like short-lived And I didn't find the others who were living in the woods and I was like well, maybe I just need to go to bed and like cough cough Who knows what's going on? So they took me in the minivan like they didn't bring me inside They like just like sappy in the minivan and we're like what is this note about and I was like, honey I'm like it says I'm gay What do you want it to be about like I'm like, well, it's really like a Modernist take on I'm gay there was nothing like a Something ripped back. Yeah, it's not like like here's a pen If you shine it in black light and you scribble over the paper, it's going to reveal and it's just gonna say gay Yeah, gay huh huh? What's that mean?
I'm like gay means gay. Gay means gay mom So I was in the minivan and they were like did someone call you this at school?
