I’m going to crash out if we keep having this conversation. Professor David Starkey discussed English identity with Mark Littlewood, and agreed that multiculturalism is a non-starter — but then defined British identity as an umbrella under which hyphenated foreign faiths and peoples can live. Britain is a nation of English, Scottish, Welsh, and Irish peoples. Membership of that nation depends on ancestry: being descended from a family of English, Scottish, Welsh, or Irish heritage. It’s as simple as that. And having the conversation over and over again, seeking concessions for foreign cultures, won’t change that fact.
