Immigration Ballot Questions Are Political Theater | Calgary News

A new Parkland Institute report slams Alberta’s immigration ballot questions as political theater, revealing they’re designed to scapegoat minority groups for public service crises — while ignoring the government’s failure to expand healthcare and education. Author Bronwyn Bragg exposes how these questions deflect blame, playing on fears despite evidence that immigration levels are actually declining — and that the UCP itself once actively recruited immigrants. This isn’t a new tactic; it’s a cynical strategy to stir resentment and avoid accountability, with real harm to Alberta’s communities.
