Why is it important to clean the sewer drains?  Gunk or debris accumulate in the drains such as dirt, grease, soap scum, hair, clumped paper (to name a few) or just sediment from the pipes.  Wet wipes disposed into the sewer lines are another big headache that have caused blockages and sewer backups into homes, leading to very costly repairs to include sanitizing the area.   Sewer maintenance can involve the use of a camera to identify the blockage as it could be tree roots, too.
