In a Glass Cage (1986)
from The Kulturecast Hosted by Weirding Way Media
Few films are as hard to sit through as this one. Chris takes on another controversial pick, Agustí Villaronga's In a Glass Cage, a Spanish film that confronts Nazism, abuse, and torture head-on. Günter Meisner stars as Klaus, a former Nazi doctor confined to an iron lung after a suicide attempt, who is visited by Angelo (David Sust), one of the boys he once abused, now posing as his nurse. It's a disturbing look at humanity, torture, and the fetishization of helplessness. We dig into Villaronga's film, its unflinching subject matter, and why it remains so divisive. The Projection Booth's Mike White joins Chris Stachiw, the Doctor of Podcasting, to talk Agustí Villaronga, Günter Meisner, extreme cinema, and so much more.
