Although it may look like the gentleman above is trying to figure out what the device is that he’s holding in his hand, he was intimately familiar with microphones, both radio and recording. He’s British bandleader Jack Payne and his is one of three natal anniversaries we’ll be celebrating on this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records. The others are Hugo Frey and “The Crooning Troubadour” Nick Lucas. In other segments we’ll hear some rapidly rotating records about pickles and pussycats.
