IN CONVERSATION: Bel Sloane

from Shameless · host Shameless Media

Hello lovely listeners! Today we have a powerful interview with Bel Sloane. In case you’re not familiar with her name, Bel is a television presenter for Channel 7. She’s also the wife of AFL star and captain of the Adelaide Crows, Rory Sloane. In 2018, Bel and Rory lost their first child Leo, who was born sleeping. In this interview, we talk about that grief, but also the love that Leo brought to both of their lives. We also talk about what it was like to fall pregnant again with their little boy, Sonny, and the mechanics of keeping that entire pregnancy secret from the outside world. While we sat with Bel in her Adelaide home, there was a great, big Christmas tree right beside us. On the Christmas tree were a collection of baubles that read the names of their little family - Mum, Dad, Sonny and Leo - the little warrior who will never be forgotten, and whose passing ignited a legacy that will help Australian parents for years to come.
