In Conversation With Innocent Moloi- Paralegal

from VOW 88.1 · host Pretty Ngwenya & KHANYISILE YENDE

Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, has clarified government’s position regarding undocumented foreign nationals who leave South Africa voluntarily or are deported. According to the Minister, the South African government will not provide financial compensation for any property that undocumented migrants leave behind when they exit the country. However, Ntshavheni emphasised that property legally owned by foreign nationals remains protected under South African law, regardless of their immigration status. Such assets may be sold, transferred or otherwise disposed of through the appropriate legal processes. The Minister’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions around immigration enforcement, border management and the treatment of undocumented foreign nationals in South Africa. Government maintains that while immigration laws must be enforced, property rights that have been lawfully acquired remain protected by the country’s legal framework. Instagram · Twitter
