In Conversation with our drummer James (Jimmy) Child: on a life of music, neurological differences and the state of technology

This podcast brings together different people’s unique perspectives to collectively map the reality behind mainstream narratives and try to make sense of the cognitive dissonance that comes from seeing through them.Brought to you by Leeds music collective Fold and hosted by Seth Mowshowitz, today’s episode features the first other member of Fold that we’ve had on the show: our current drummer Jimmy — aka James Child.We have been extremely lucky with the quality of musicians that have gravitated towards us over the years and Jimmy is no exception. He’s easily one of the finest musicians that we’ve ever worked with: an incredible drummer and an accomplished bass and guitar player. On top of all that, Jimmy’s also a professional sound engineer. He does live sound part time and plays in four different bands, including his dad’s.As a person, Jimmy is incredibly humble, kind, caring, a good laugh and a solid friend. He has a diagnosis of Tourette’s Syndrome and we talk at length about living with his particular manifestation of Tourette’s and the impacts that’s had on him.Another thing Jimmy has in common with all members of Fold is being countercultural by nature. Although he considers himself relatively new to thinking in socio-political terms, Jimmy is someone who has completely opened his mind in order to learn more.
