The release of Health Ombud Professor Taole Mokoena’s report into the deaths of healthcare professionals at public health facilities in KwaZulu-Natal has raised concerns about working conditions in South Africa’s public healthcare system. The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) says it has received numerous complaints from healthcare workers, highlighting how deteriorating infrastructure and poor working conditions continue to affect public hospitals across the country. The organisation has called on the Department of Health to urgently address these challenges and improve conditions for healthcare professionals.
