The Gauteng Department of Health has reassured the public that dialysis services at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital have remained fully operational despite recent supply challenges affecting certain dialysis consumables. Approximately three weeks ago, the hospital experienced reduced stock levels of sodium bicarbonate solution due to delays in procurement processes. While reports suggested that the facility had completely run out of the consumable, the Department maintains that contingency measures were implemented to ensure continuity of care. According to the Department, no dialysis treatments were missed, and no procedures were cancelled or postponed during this period. The Department further confirmed that the supply of dialysis filters used in intensive care units was also affected by procurement delays. To mitigate potential disruptions to patient care, CMJAH temporarily sourced supplies from other facilities within its cluster. Instagram · Twitter
