In 30 states, including Alabama and Tennessee, as of June 5, 2025 a new law takes effect to ban all handheld device use while driving. This includes calls, emails, texts, or using the internet.  Devices cannot be accessed even at a stop light or traffic jam. It’s called the Touch Law. What a wild election process last week – and it is still not over!Municipal Clerks’ Offices must be in actual receipt by 5pm today of absentee ballots returned by mail for ballots to be timely. Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before Election Day.Today also: Last day voters who cast an affidavit ballot by reason of voter photo ID may present an acceptable form of photo ID or complete an affidavit of religious objection in the Municipal Clerks’ Offices.Friday the13th Municipal Election Commissioners shall certify the General Election Results and forward certified results to the MSOS.By state statute, whenever a race is tied, it shall be decided by a coin toss or a drawing of straws. And toss a coin is what a Rankin County Justice Court Judge had to do when the Pelahatchie Alderman’s ward one race was a tie at 34 votes each.Our lawmakers passed a budget for the state.
