In the beginning…

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.” Genesis 1:1-3 Beginnings are such a beautiful place. Filled with so much uncertainty but packed with the possibility of what might be. They guarantee us another chance to start over and provide the opportunity to prove yet again, that all things are possible. I do not know anything about life before creation began, but I know that “in the beginning” was a beautiful opportunity for God to finally create the masterpiece of the heavens and earth that He had envisioned, to bring life into being so that He can fulfil His mission and purpose. The Bible tells us that the earth was without form and that it was void and dark. It continues to tell us that in all that hopelessness, the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters, getting ready to start creating. 2025 is the same. We do not know it’s form. We cannot really tell what it looks like and what it has in store for us. We just know that it’s a year, with 12 months, 365 days and 8760 hours. Beyond that, it is void. Yes, we have plans for it. We have a vision for it. We have goals for it. We are hoping for the best. We are trusting God for the best. We have faith for the best, we are praying that we make it through the year, and that we get to experience the best that God has in store for us this year. Just like God in the beginning, we are dealing with formlessness, void and darkness, but we have the Spirit of God hovering over this year of 2025, ready to help us with His creative power, to make of this year what God has placed in our hearts. Tomorrow we will be exploring how we can use this creative power to make this year 2025, everything that God is leading us to make of it, through the power of having sight and speaking life into the year. At the end of the week, we will be praying for all the plans we have and surrendering them to God.
