In the Heights

Is the magic in the new film In the Heights from Jon M. Chu’s direction or from Lin-Manuel Miranda’s original Broadway show? We think it’s Chu working wonders here to bring Miranda's show to vibrant cinematic life.Andy Nelson is joined by Mandy Kaplan, Justin Jaeger, and special guest Brian Rowe from the Film at Fifty Podcast to form our artistic opinions. While the story doesn’t wow us as much as we hoped, Chu creates a film oozing personality and authenticity through his cast – Anthony Ramos, Melissa Barrera, Leslie Grace, Corey Hawkins, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Olga Merediz, Gregory Diaz IV, and Jimmy Smits can all sing and dance! With Christopher Scott’s choreography and stunning production design, this is one to see on the big screen.
