This week on In the Know, Andy Taylor welcomed Chris Erickson from Valley Assistance Services (VAS) to discuss the organization's upcoming 7th Annual Runway of Hope Fashion Show, taking place August 21st at Desert Diamond Casino & Entertainment Center. The fundraiser will feature fashions from local businesses Nancy Pants in Green Valley and Ruby Jane in Tubac, along with a luncheon, cash bar, and a large silent auction. Proceeds directly support VAS programs that provide hope and assistance to individuals and families throughout the community.Chris also highlighted the growing need for assistance during the summer months, particularly with utility, rental, and limited mortgage assistance. VAS continues to help residents facing financial challenges while also providing access to food, household essentials, and other support services through its community-focused programs.The conversation also focused on the importance of volunteers. Opportunities are available for friendly phone calls, office support, event assistance, and especially transportation services that help residents get to medical appointments and other essential destinations.
