In spite of the extremely difficult situation for the people and the country, we wanted to bring the variety of traditions in Haiti for this particular season, Noel or Christmas to honor the different types of the end of the year celebrations even though this season has all but extinguished some of them. Haiti's people are like a kaleidoscope of colors, traditions and beliefs coming from continents far away as well as ancestors native to the land. The recording quality varies due to the authenticity of each person's location so we hope you "enjoy" that as well as the music by the band and our good friends, Boukman Eksperyans. There's a dish referred to by Maquel called "Chaka" which is a traditional stew, possibly from the original Taino people, composed of hulled corn, beans, and squash know as the "3 sisters" of the gardens.
