INCOME INEQUALITY - THE BLACK ECONOMY DEFINED

All across America millions of families are feeling the crunch financially to make ends meet and survive during the slow economic recovery. Many job seekers have stopped looking for work and have resigned to not finding gainful employment.  Major corporations have found it more profitable to do more with less and have chosen not to hire back those workers that were laid-off at the height of the recession. And although the nations unemployment rate has dropped, there are still millions of Americans who are still out of work. Adding to that is the rising income inequality. The disparity in income between blacks and their white counterparts continues to grow. According to a census report, blacks make 60 percent of that of whites, and in a scale of the median household income, blacks ranked last. So how can African American's compete in todays global economy? To help me answer that question,  My guest is David Weild IV, he is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of IssuWorks, an investment banking firm, and the former Vice Chairman of NASDAQ. He is widely recognized as the "father" of the JOBS ACT and has been heavily involved in drafting legislation for the US Congress. Weild spent 14yrs with Prudential Securities, where he was head of global equity transactions for the firm.  He later moved to head the company's technology investment banking business. After serving as President of PrudentialSecurities.com, David moved into the position of vice president of corporate clients at NASDAQ, where he eventually became its Vice Chairman.  David has studied the economic impacts on the African American communities.
