INDEPENDENCE FROM SIN

Scripture: “But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.” – Romans 6:22 (NIV) Devotional Message: True independence is not found in living apart from God—it’s found in being free from the grip of sin. Sin enslaves, deceives, and destroys, but through Christ, we have been liberated from its power. His sacrifice on the cross didn’t just forgive us; it broke the chains that once held us captive. When you accepted Jesus, you were transferred from darkness to light, from bondage to freedom. But this freedom is not a license to live carelessly—it’s an invitation to walk in holiness and obedience. The more you yield to God, the freer you become. Independence from sin is not about striving in your own strength, but relying on the Spirit to empower your daily choices. So when temptation comes knocking, remember: you owe nothing to your old life. You are a new creation, empowered to live above sin and reflect the righteousness of Christ. Today, ask yourself: Am I truly walking in the freedom Christ purchased for me, or am I still bound by habits He has already broken? Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for setting me free from the power of sin. Help me to walk in the freedom of Your Spirit and live a life that honors You daily.
