Indian Agent Kidnapped

Originally Aired: October 23, 1938The Lone Ranger #896, "Indian Agent Kidnapped,"The Lone Ranger and Tonto await a special stage at Three Forks, watching for the government official sent to settle a land dispute between rancher Phil Canfield and Chief White Cloud's tribe. When Judge Allen arrives, he encounters Rufe Corby, one of Canfield's men, who tries to gauge the judge's sympathies. To Corby's dismay, Judge Allen indicates the facts seem to favor the Indians, explaining that a landslide changed Bitter Creek's course after the original treaty was signed, giving Canfield access to land that rightfully belongs to White Cloud's people. Understanding that the corrupt Canfield won't accept an unfavorable judgment, the Lone Ranger sends Tonto to Newton to investigate Canfield's plans while he rides ahead to protect the stage.Days later, Canfield meets with Bert Buckman, the Indian agent he has already bribed, anxiously awaiting Corby's report. When Corby confirms that Judge Allen sides with the Indians, Canfield vows to take matters into his own hands, declaring he will not only secure the valuable land but drive every Indian from the territory, regardless of the law.
