Indiana Weather 3/7 Morning - Thunder Tumble Then Freeze

Good morning. Indiana. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you might think you stepped into late April. We're sitting at a balmy 65 degrees, but don't get used to it. A storm system with an attitude is barreling in, bringing wind gusts up to 50 miles an hour to western Indiana right now. If you're near Fort Wayne or Marion, keep one eye on the sky until about 9 A.M. These storms pack a punch. Indianapolis, you're waking up to 70 degrees — a solid 28 degrees above normal. But that warmth is pulling a vanishing act. Thunderstorms roll in by 7 A.M., sending temperatures crashing into the 50s by afternoon. You'll see a half-inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain before this clears. Tonight brings a sharp cooldown to near 40, with winds shifting to make it feel even rawer. Down in Evansville, you're the warm spot at 71 degrees. Showers move in by 7 A.M., cooling you to the upper 60s by afternoon. The Patoka River near Princeton is under a Flood Warning, so remember: turn around, don't drown. Looking ahead. Sunday gives us a break with sunshine and highs near 60. But Monday rebounds fast — we're talking 70 degrees again. Tuesday brings more storms, especially down south, before a cold front sweeps through Wednesday. That's when winter reminds us it's still lurking — highs drop to the 50s. And we could even see snow showers in South Bend by Wednesday night.
