Indiana Weather March 3 Evening - Flood Watch

Good evening. Indiana. I'm Aaron Jolly. That rain drumming on your roof right now? It's got a story behind it. A frontal boundary has stalled right across the middle of the state. And it's pulling Gulf moisture northward like a fire hose. We've already picked up close to half an inch. Another one to three inches could fall by tomorrow morning. In the next 24 hours. That's serious water, folks. A Flood Watch covers the southern two thirds of Indiana through 10 A.M. Wednesday. Stay off flooded roads tonight. No exceptions. Now the wild part. This front is splitting Indiana into two completely different evenings. Down in Evansville, it's 57 degrees with thunderstorms rumbling through. That muggy, heavy air you'd expect in May. Drive three hours north to Indy and it's 44 degrees. Still rainy, still gray, but cooler. Patchy fog rolls in overnight, so morning commuters, keep that in mind. Push up past the front into northern Indiana and it's a whole other vibe. Fort Wayne and South Bend are sitting near freezing. Just clouds tonight. Rain doesn't even arrive until tomorrow afternoon, with highs climbing to around 51 degrees. Oh. And there's a full moon tonight. Good luck finding it through all that soup. Now the week ahead is where things get interesting. Rain sticks around Wednesday night into Thursday. Then Friday. Friday is the plot twist. Central Indiana could hit 76 degrees. Southwest Indiana flirts with 80. In early March. That's borderline record territory. Your windows will be open and your jacket will be forgotten in the back seat. More storms crash the party Saturday before sunshine and 60s return on Sunday. Keep that umbrella within arm's reach tonight. And if you see water across the road, turn around.
