Indiana Weather March 4 Evening - Record Cold

from The Indiana Weather Podcast

Good evening. Indiana. I'm Aaron Jolly. You’ve heard that drumming on the roof all day? We’ve picked up nearly an inch of rain across the state. And the ground is officially soaked. But the atmosphere isn't finished yet. Southwest Indiana faces the roughest night of all. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Posey. Vanderburgh. And Warrick counties until 10 P.M. That's where you'll see damaging winds and large hail. You bottom out at a muggy 60 degrees with more storms rolling through. In the next 24 hours. Central Indiana, you're dodging the severe stuff but dealing with the water. A Flood Watch runs through Thursday morning as another round of rain moves in overnight. We could see another three-quarters to an inch of rain. Watch the thermometer though — you'll bottom out near 54 degrees, then start rising overnight. You wake up to 66 degrees by tomorrow afternoon. Head north and it’s a completely different world. Northern and Northeast Indiana are sitting in the low 40s under gray skies and fog. Showers continue tonight with dense fog developing. Highs Thursday only reach the low to mid-50s. That cooler air is stubborn, refusing to budge. Friday brings a wild temperature swing. Central Indiana could hit 76 degrees, while the southwest might reach 78. That challenges record highs. More storms arrive Friday night into Saturday as a cold front pushes through. Sunday dries out with sunshine and highs near 60. The full moon is playing hide-and-seek behind all those clouds tonight. With the spring equinox just two weeks away, the weather is certainly acting the part. Keep an eye on those drains and ditches tonight. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
