Indiana Weather March 4 Morning - 36° Above Normal
from The Indiana Weather Podcast
Good morning. Indiana. I'm Aaron Jolly. You probably heard that steady drumming on the roof overnight. Over an inch of rain soaked central Indiana. And now the water has nowhere to go. Mill Creek near Cataract in Owen County is rising quickly, so a Flood Warning is in effect there through this evening. Expect minor flooding. Keep a close eye on the water if you're near any streams in central or southern Indiana — a Flood Watch runs until 10 this morning. In the next 24 hours. The thermometer is all over the place today. Southwest Indiana is sitting in the warm sector. Evansville hits a steamy 73 degrees with thunderstorms rumbling possible. But head north and the numbers crash. Central Indiana climbs to 57 degrees with scattered showers and patchy fog. Northern Indiana tops out near 50 under gray skies. The cool spot is northeast Indiana at 47 degrees. If you're in Steuben or De Kalb counties, watch out for that Dense Fog Advisory until 10 A.M. Visibility could drop below a quarter mile in a heartbeat. Tonight, rain and thunderstorms spread statewide. It stays unusually mild with lows in the 40s and 50s. Thursday keeps the wet pattern going with more rain and storms. Highs range from the upper 50s northeast to near 70 southwest. Here's the real shocker. Friday could challenge records. We're talking mid-70s to near 80 degrees. That's a solid 36 degrees to 36 degrees above normal for early March. More rain and storms ride in with that warmth. Saturday stays wet before a drier, cooler Sunday finally gives us a break. You'll not see much of the full moon tonight through all those clouds. The spring equinox is just two weeks away, but Friday's weather will feel like we skipped right to April. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
