“Indians Don’t Worry, Japanese Don’t Move”

from *“Yesterday, I Went to Mars ♡”* · host MakotowillOlympusMons

This week’s reflection comes from a trip to India I took with my nephew. He’s now giving an English speech about that journey — turning an experience into action. It made me think about something I recently read in a book called “Indians Don’t Worry.”It says Japan lives by a “GUESS culture,” while India lives by a “DO culture.”In Japan, we hesitate: “Is this okay? What if I upset someone?”In India, people just act: “Let’s do it. If there’s a problem, I’ll think about it then.”Neither is right or wrong. But maybe true growth happens somewhere in between —where we move before overthinking, yet still care about others.India teaches the strength of not worrying.Japan teaches the kindness of consideration. If we can hold both, maybe that’s the best way to live.So if you’re hesitating about something today —try the Indian way:Just do it.If it doesn’t work out, you’ll figure it out then.
