He also talks about why he chose to stay in Indore and make films there instead of moving to Bombay, the city of dreams and luck. He gives us a very detailed insight into Nepotism in Bollywood and how he chose the path of being an independent filmmaker. He talks about the importance of networking and building connections and trust among people so they are ready to help you. He tells us his jugaad of arranging locations, actors and taking his films to Indian Film Festivals where Imtiaz Ali appreciated his work. He then walks us through the whole process of making Niyati Chakra (his new film). He starts by talking about writing film scripts, then arranging locations, visualizing, casting, production, post-production, challenges in rendering, and learning VFX. He says it took him 3 years to make a film like that and he wishes to make only 10-15 in his career. We also talk about the challenges of independent filmmaking, the patience, and passion it requires. We talk some more about deciding genres and analyze consumer behavior. It is all in all a very insightful conversation for someone who wants to get into the film industry and if you are in film school and found it helpful, make sure to share it with other people in your circle because I believe this is gold for people who are in the industry. __ In This Episode 0:00 // introduction to sid film production, 3:29 // filmmaking and theatre in the 2010s 7:30 // nepotism and hierarchies in the industry 8:34 // sid on deciding he wants to do filmmaking 9:45 // starting to make films 13:40 // influence and support behind making films 18:34 // the making of the film 20:00 // writing the film 26:27 // background preparation 29:55 // sid’s team 30:56 // completion of the script 31:55 // production of the film 34:04 // music of the film 34:39 // scheduling the film 34:56 // casting 36:34 // shooting 38:27 // post-production 43:41 // networking 44:33 // licensing the film 44:49 // distributing the film 48:38 // patience and passion 50:57 // what’s next? 52:53 // making films for OTT platforms 56:51 // the future of sid in filmmaking 57:47 // struggling and establishing genres 1:01:01 // consumer behavior in watching content/films 1:04:10 // creating stuff you love 1:06:21 // consumer behavior and creating a brand 1:07:11// logging off/random __ Follow Stories With Rusty Instagram // https://www.instagram.com/storieswithrusty Twitter // https://www.twitter.com/rustystories Website // https://www.storieswithrusty.com // Let's Connect If you're the Instagram type, https://instagram.com/vedant.rusty If you're the Twitter type, https://twitter.com/vedantrusty
