Indigo Raven Interview
from METALLOID · host METALLOID
Haunting vocals, fuzz for days, drawing from the darkness.. Indigo Raven is doom to the core from Toulouse, France. Their self titled EP was recently released in April and it doesn’t disappoint. Where do I begin with this record? I think bottom line it’s artistic. The album starts out in a unique way with some electronic music, slowly adding more and more layers appropriately called “Pretending Human”. The production is full along with shimmering cymbals and vocals with a softness and assertiveness, giving you a witchy/shamanic vibe at times. The guitar tone is fantastic in “Barebones” especially and I REALLY like the mix on the snare reverb throughout the EP, it sounds like a shot down a train tunnel. I particularly dig the lyrics of this album, they are melancholy, strong and sexy, building each song. This is an album I really enjoy hearing from front to back. If you let album take you on a path, you come out of it feeling wanting more clocking innate 19 mins. I was fortunate to chat with them about music, art, Texas and more.
