Industrial Light & Magic-Creating the Impossible w/Glen McIntosh & Walter Koenig

from Saturday Morning Cereal · host Saturday Morning Cereal

Meanwhile on Saturday Morning Cereal...Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world, and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. This week we celebrate 40 years of Industrial Light & Magic Creating the Impossible with Digital Supervisor Glen McIntosh and celebrate the life of Anton Yelchin (Star Trek Into the Darkness, Terminator Salvation) with one of his greatest fans, the original “Chekov” Walter Koenig (Star Trek, Babylon 5).  All this started by meeting Glen McIntosh while at the Sideshow booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2015 where he tells us about his blue-screen raptor pantomime work in the summer blockbuster, Jurassic World. Inspired by Steven Spielberg & George Lucas, Glen has been in the film and animation business for 25 years. At ILM, Glen was instrumental in the character animation for George Lucas’ Star Wars: Episodes 1–3 including the SFX genre defining Jar Jar Binks. His additional credits include Star Trek Into Darkness, Hulk, E.T. SE, War of The Worlds, Transformers, Revenge of the Fallen, Star Tours 3D: The Adventure Continues & numerous commercials including the Honeycomb cereal commercial “Purse Snatcher”. This episode is sponsored by Paramount Home Media. Announcing the release of the first 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Releases of Star Trek & Star Trek Into Darkness. To celebrate the release of Star Trek Beyond July 22, 2016 & the final appearance of Anton Yelchin’s Chekov we are giving away copies…Listen to win!🥣Saturday Morning Cereal — the show that celebrates the themes of Saturday Morning TV that we not only grew up with, but that grew up with us.We talk with the talent and creatives who continue to shape the pop culture we love.🎙️ Subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and visit mattypradio.com for more episodes, interviews, and Comic-Con and pop-culture coverage.
