BILL BELLAMY GREW up in Newark AND starting doing stand-up while he was a student at Rutgers University. in two short years, he had earned a spot on THE FIRST “Def Comedy Jam” EPISODE with bernie mac, martin lawrence, and adele givens, where he notoriously coined the phrase “booty call,” which became the name for his highly rated first comedy special for Showtime. soon after, HE became a staple on MTV as THE most popular AFRICAN-AMERICAN “VJ’” in the network’s history. HE then SEGUED INTO MOVIES, starrING in “LOVE JONES,” “HOW TO BE A PLAYER,” “LOVE STINKS,” “THE BROTHERS,” and “ANY GIVEN SUNDAY.” he has guest starred on USA’s “White Collar, ” Tyler Perry’s “Meet The Browns” on TBS, ABC’s “Castle,” USA’s “Royal Pains,” did multiple episodes of “rachael ray” as a co-host and tv land’s “hot in cleveland” as an actor, hosted multiple seasons of the hit shows “you’ve got jokes” on tv1 and the emmy nominated “last comic standing” on nbc. he recently executive produced his last two comedy specials for showtime (“crazy sexy dirty” and “ladies night out”) and his latest sitcom entitled “mr.
