🦠 FREE MSRA PODCAST – Clostridia: High-Yield Bacterial Toxins & Clinical SyndromesAce your MSRA revision with the most exam-relevant facts about clostridial infections, their clinical features, and management.🧠 Key Learning Points📌 Definition & Features• Clostridia = Gram-positive, spore-forming, anaerobic bacteria.• Spores = survive extreme conditions (soil, gut, hospital settings).• Pathogenic species produce potent toxins → severe diseases.📌 Major Pathogenic Species• C. perfringens: Gas gangrene (myonecrosis); alpha toxin destroys tissue, causes crepitus, haemorrhagic bullae, rapid necrosis.• C. botulinum: Botulism; botulinum toxin blocks acetylcholine → flaccid paralysis.
