Inflation, Inheritance, and the Parable of the Prodigal Son

from The Garrett Ashley Mullet Show · host Garrett Ashley Mullet

Gas prices are up 58% from last year. Meat prices are up 13%. Congress is passing, and President Biden is signing, spending bills with price tags in the trillions. Inflation is eroding our wealth, and there is no free lunch. But in conjunction with these realities I want to turn your attention to the parable of the prodigal son. He too was short-sighted. Asking his father for his share of the inheritance now, he then proceeded to spend it on lavish parties. And when the money dried up, so did his circle of friends. History is replete with such stories. And such may be the end of the American story - at least as far as the United States being a pre-eminent superpower.  But such does not need to be our personal story. And even if we have been prodigals individually or as a nation, we do well to remember that Jesus likens God to the father who welcomes the wayward son home with a feast and gladness.
